Previously located in Southern California, Firehouse Kennels has finally made our long awaited move to
Southeast Arizona!

As of November 2004, we are now located on 60 acres in the foothills of the Dragoon Mountains, with 360 degree mountain views, and at over 5000' elevation, we can enjoy all four seasons... moderately! Only 10 miles from historic Tombstone, AZ, we welcome all visitors to call or drop by for a visit!

Don is a Fire Capt/Paramedic with Orange County Fire and Janet, retired from nursing, now runs Apache Hill Wool and Fiber Company.  We raise rare and heritage breeds of wool producing sheep as well as Angora goats to produce the finest of luxury and specialty wool and fiber.  Visit Apache Hill at www.ApacheHillWool.com.

Firehouse has been committed to improving and promoting the miniature Australian Shepherd for over 9 years. Janet has served on the Board of the North American Miniature Australian Shepherd Club of the USA (NAMASCUSA) as President and as Board Member, and served on multiple committees over the years. She is an active member of the Miniature Australian Shepherd Club of America (MASCA) where she currently serves on the Education Committee and on the Health and Genetics Committee and has participated in Conformation, Herding and Agility

Firehouse developed and maintained the first MAS Health Survey in an effort to identify and monitor heritable diseases in the breed to benefit all mini breeders and to prevent the insidious presence of any diseases detrimental to the breed. Those results, though now dated, can be viewed at the link on the left.

Our breeding goals are to continuously strive to improve upon the high quality of the Firehouse bloodlines, producing healthy dogs who are sound both physically and mentally. We feel that preservation of the herding instinct, endurance, athleticism, and extreme trainability that is this breed's heritage is of extreme importance, while maintaining a temperament and size that fits well into today's lifestyles.

All Firehouse dogs are fully guaranteed to be healthy and free of genetic defects. We are always available to our puppies families for any questions or needs. At Firehouse Kennels we strongly believe that a mini Aussie is happiest when he has a job to do and is an active member of his or her family. We prefer placement of our puppies into homes that are active and that have a love of participating in team activities with their pets.

All of Firehouse's dogs are our much loved companions.  We welcome visitors who would like to visit with us and our dogs, and are happy to talk about our dogs and the breed to anyone willing to listen.
